Binh Duong Football in the past 3-5 years has appeared many young faces and comes from the ‘homegrown’ strategy of Mr. Ho Hoang Thach.

Recalling the history of the Youth U.21 tournament to see the years 2009, and 2011 Binh Duong football almost did not have suitable training for young players. Talented classes are primarily maintained seasonally. In notable cases when participating in the U.21 tournament in 2003 only Anh Duc stood out, the rest like Vuong Tieu Dat and Nguyen Tri Trong only popped up for a while.

Since Mr. Ho Hong Thach was assigned by Becamex IDC Corporation to remake youth football by establishing the Binh Duong TDC team, Binh Duong football has resonated. At that time, Mr. Hong Thach coordinated with Binh Duong’s sports department to build and invest in youth players, then when he received the hosting of two national U.21 tournaments in 2009 and 2011, Binh Duong won the runner-up in a series of competitions. Young players trained by Becamex Binh Duong go in the right direction such as goalkeeper Lam An Do, midfielder Nguyen Chi Huynh, midfielder Nguyen Dinh Loi as well as midfielder Hoang Ngoc Hung.

Since then, Mr. Thach has been considered a pioneer of Binh Duong youth football and started to be the basis for the youth lines for a long time. During 5 years from 2011 to 2016 with the support of professional teams such as Dang Tran Chinh, Truong Van Du, Nguyen Minh Dung, Nguyen Dai Ninh, and Tran Tan Thong, Binh Duong’s youth team proved their class when they stepped into the national field such as Truong Du Dat, Tong Anh Ty, Nguyen Trong Huy, Tran Duy Khanh, some even quickly joined the ranks of the team like Nguyen Tien Linh.

Persisting with the youth training strategy, resolutely not chasing after short-term achievements as the time Binh Duong was once called “Chelsea of Vietnam”, Mr. Thach is still working hard to build the V-League team in a systematic and rejuvenating, when there are often 4-5 young faces trained by themselves in the starting lineup. In the long term, Binh Duong has also invited Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan, head coach of the Vietnam U.17 team, to be the technical director of young football to train and provide additional resources for the successor.

With active investment support for the future of young football as well as working together to build a good V-League, Binh Duong is not only a team with the most stable and long-term potential in the South but also has contributed effectively to the sustainable development of Vietnamese football.
